JE ET L'AUTRE, 2020
Installation, photography series
It is a collaboration between two people who are profoundly different and, at the same time, deeply similar. The project presents photographic portraits of these individuals, each accompanied by a striking quotation reproduced word for word from the French poet Arthur Rimbaud: “I is another. I witness the blossoming of my thought: I look at it, I listen to it.”
Despite their apparent differences, the two individuals seem to be driven by the same conviction: that there is an “other” within each of us, an inner presence that we must learn to hear, welcome, and nurture. Through this juxtaposition, the project explores identity, the duality of the self, and the subtle relationship between the intimate and the universal.
The work is a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy, introspection, and mutual understanding in our contemporary world. It invites us to recognize, both within ourselves and in others, that inner voice which helps shape our shared humanity.
