İLK VE SON

August 16 – 23, 2025

Bodrum Art Gallery

Bodrum , Turkiye

Organized as part of BodrumArt’s 20th anniversary celebrations, “İlk ve Son” (First and Last) brings together two artists from different generations, offering a multilayered space for reflection on time, the body, and artistic continuity.

The exhibition presents the works of İnci Başağa Yörükoğlu (b. 1941), Honorary President of BodrumArt, alongside those of Paris-based multidisciplinary artist Deniz Demirer (b. 1997). Their practices converge to reveal the intersections of personal memory and universal emotions, while also highlighting intergenerational transmission and artistic legacy.

Within this framework, Deniz Demirer presents two works from her latest series, “Body and Matter.” This research engages with plaster sculptures through interventions with various materials, examining both the dynamics of matter and allegorical dimensions of human relationships. Plaster functions here as a metaphor for the body—fragile, moldable, and endlessly receptive to what is added onto it.

Demirer’s works underscore how a single material, depending on the processes it undergoes, can yield radically different outcomes. Thus, the inherent potential of matter is revealed through transformation—shaped by force, care, or coincidence—into entirely distinct experiences.
