CONCEPT DE CAGE PERSONNELLE, 2020
Installation, performance, woolen yarns
The idea of a personal world conceived as a protective cage evokes a metaphorical space that each individual can create in order to navigate difficult situations. This cage offers a form of control in a world that is often unpredictable, fostering a sense of confidence and security.
In the design of this space, its size and shape were essential to the concept. It had to remain relatively small so that it could be mentally grasped, while maintaining a visible opening at the top, allowing one to enter and leave when necessary. This opening emphasizes that the structure is not a form of confinement, but rather a temporary refuge, chosen and controlled.
Wool yarn, a material that may appear physically fragile, takes on a deeper symbolic meaning here. Through the personal interpretation it invites, it can become imbued with a sense of solidity, protection, and permanence. In this way, the apparent fragility of the material stands in tension with the inner strength it represents.
